Hello!

Lindsey Aarts uses watercolor illustration and mixed media collage to create colorful imagery rooted in stories, history, and the natural landscape. She enjoys using this visual language to create a sense of place for the viewer and always looks forward to burying herself the next research project.

Lindsey was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Florida and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Art History and Museum Studies. In 2009, she packed her belongings and headed west to Portland, Oregon. For the last thirteen years, Lindsey has worked as a freelance graphic designer but began focusing on her personal art practice when she moved to Oregon’s north coast in 2017. She is supported in her art adventures by her loving husband, Vincent, her three children, and two fur babies (a lazy old cat) and a quirky and energetic old dog).

When she isn’t working on art, you can find Lindsey teaching watercolor classes at the Columbia River Maritime Museum, tinkering away at house projects, playing board games with her kids, or spending time outdoors enjoying the Pacific Northwest.
